John Crute
A real estate and destination development executive with roughly two decades of experience across the Middle East and international markets, spanning development, destination strategy, leasing, asset management. John has worked developer/landlord side and also occupier/operator sides of the industry.
He directed real estate strategy across a portfolio of more than 200 stores — including Inditex brands Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho, alongside F&B concepts Eataly, Paul Café, Pulp Juice and Butcher Shop — and secured the MENA master franchises for Hurricanes Grill and L'Artisan du Burger, leading both to flagship openings at The Dubai Mall.
On the ownership side, he directed asset strategy and leasing for a Dubai family office across a USD 1bn retail, commercial, residential and hospitality portfolio. His development career began in Australia at Springfield Lakes, Queensland — part of Australia's largest masterplanned city — working with Lend Lease on residential and developing two large community shopping centres. John led all retail and commercial leasing, and managed shop fit-out and delivery; the projects included the launch of a small luxury hotel, commercial office park, medical centre and restaurant precinct.
Through Nuwave, John develops destination and active-leisure opportunities across the UAE, working with developers, government-related organisations and specialist partners. He is a licensed RERA broker and has been involved with ICSC/MECSC.
